The Telegram messenger increased its audience in Russia by 66% in six months, from 25 million in January to 41.5 million people per day in July. The main jump happened in March — immediately up to 40.6 million compared to 27.5 million in February. Forbes writes about this, citing data from the research company Mediascope.

Experts note that in Telegram, users go for news content, because reading news in the messenger is really convenient, and this does not require a VPN.

  • For comparison, the audience of the social network VKontakte increased not so significantly — from 46 million people in January to 50 million in July.
  • The daily audience of Facebook* in Russia over the same period decreased by eight times (to 1.9 million users), and the audience of Instagram* almost four times (to 10.6 million).

There is also a new trend in Runet — an increase in the number of media that exist in the form of e-mail newsletters. Such methods of conveying information to users are now literally experiencing a rebirth, notes Artem Kozlyuk from Roskomsvoboda.

Lifehacker has such mailings — you can subscribe only to the materials you are interested in and receive a book as a gift.
