For important documents, it is always worth backing up so as not to get into a difficult situation if something happens to your hard drive or cloud service. It is especially convenient to make backups in several formats in order to quickly transfer them, for example, to colleagues in an unedited form.
The Bobby app helps you automatically copy your Google Docs files from your cloud storage to your computer’s drive. At the same time, the utility not only saves duplicates, but also converts documents to the formats of your choice.
To run Bobby, you need to download and install on Windows or macOS. The free version only works with Google Docs text documents. With a $24/year subscription, the app will also copy and process tables, presentations, and charts.
Backup is activated immediately after installation. It is enough to log into your account, allow Bobby to work with files and select the hard drive to which the save will be performed.
In the settings, you also need to specify the schedule — once a day, every hour, or a permanent action. In the free version, only the option of one operation per day is available. For the documents themselves, you must specify the format into which they will be converted.
Bobby supports the most popular resave formats. PDF and DOCX are especially useful. Tables and slides can also be transferred to PDF and MS Office, while charts and diagrams can be transferred to raster or vector images.
The developers promise that in the future Bobby will be able to make backup copies of Google Photos, Notion and other services.
