At the September 7 presentation, Apple spent a few minutes describing the benefits of the new AirPods Pro 2. But it turns out that this is not the only headphone update this fall. A version of AirPods 3 has appeared in the official online store, which is charged only via Lightning: the case does not have wireless charging.
It’s a welcome addition for those who prefer wired charging, but the pricing has proven to be controversial. If in the case of the second AirPods the difference between cases with wired and wireless charging is $40, then the Lightning version of AirPods 3 costs $169 versus $179 for the version with MagSafe case. At the current exchange rate, this is approximately 10,300 and 10,900 rubles, respectively.
Of course, the opportunity to save money is nice, but the benefit does not seem so attractive — especially considering that third AirPods are regularly discounted and offered by third-party sellers for significantly less than the new version.
AirPods 3 without wireless charging case are already on sale in the US. Outwardly, they do not differ in any way from the MagSafe version, so be sure to check the markings on the box when buying if wireless charging is important to you.
