Google has announced that it is adding automatic meeting transcripts to its Meet video conferencing service. Now everything said on the call will be duplicated by text. Previously, this was only possible with the help of third-party tools.
The entire transcript will go to Google Docs. Later, the developers promise to implement analytics and other functions for analyzing text transcripts.
While the function is available for meetings in English, but in 2023, support for French, German, Spanish and Portuguese will appear.
Notably, Microsoft Teams has been offering a similar feature for meetings in English for over a year now. And given Google’s long history with other speech-to-text services, it’s a little odd that Meet has taken so long to add this capability. However, better late than never.
