YouTube officially announced «Alias» (Handles). These are identifiers for channels like @username — almost like in Telegram.

This handle will act as a unique channel URL. For example, if you select the @user123 alias, then the channel URL will look like this: https://youtube.com/@user123.

Previously, only authors with more than 100 subscriptions were eligible for their own URL, but now there is no limit. In this case, the alias itself can be different from the channel name.

By nickname, the user can be mentioned in Shorts, tagged in comments or directly in the video, or simply searched on YouTube. This will simplify the interaction between authors and viewers, representatives of the service are sure.

You can get your handle at YouTube.com/handle. The innovation will spread gradually, over several weeks.
